Hodgins then decides to show Violet his business, the CH postal company which acts as a private mail and ghostwriting service and hires her as a postal worker. However, Violet cannot adjust to civilian life due to her military indoctrination. They leave for the capital city of Leiden, where Gilbert had already arranged for Violet to be adopted by the Evergarden family. He explains to Violet that the war they were fighting has ended and peace has come, though he is unwilling to tell Violet what happened to Gilbert. Colonel Hodgins, an old acquaintance of Gilbert, arrives to pick up Violet. However, Violet is injured after a mission which resulted in the loss of her arms, requiring them to be replaced with prosthesis. I usually review an anime as a whole, so this is new for me.Violet is a soldier in the Leidenschaftlich Army who served under Major Gilbert Bougainvillea, who she was utterly devoted to. P.S.- I will be doing brief episodic reviews like this one for Violet Evergarden. I pray it lives up to these expectations. Just go ahead and watch it yourself! I’m sure no one would be disappointed, and as for me, I am expecting a wonderful tale from Violet Evergarden. I can write a brief summary of the episode, but I’d rather not. The characters’ entrée was well structured, though nothing much has been revealed about any character yet and I still don’t understand the concept of “Auto Memory Dolls”, but I am pretty sure it will be explained in the upcoming episodes. I don’t think so I enjoyed every moment and it was really difficult getting my eyes off the screen. Some people told me that the first episode was really slow paced. I seriously cannot wait for the other episodes. I have this feeling that I am going to love this anime, since I have a weak spot for beautiful animation and not just that, the character of “Violet” is really intriguing as well as charming along with the other characters introduced. Also starring a star studded voice cast including names like Daisuke Namikawa and Yui Ishikawa, the hype was justified. Of course we all knew about this- from all the teasers and the fact that the show is being animated by Kyoto Animation which has given us several popular shows ( The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya, K-On, Clannad et all) over the decade. It’s the sort of animation you’d expect from an anime movie. The first episode really drew me in- so much that I watched it twice! The fabulous animations and artworks are some of the best I’ve seen in anime in a long time and is truly a visual treat. The words being, “Aishiteru (愛してる)” or “I love you”. So, whats it about? Well, I am not entirely sure, but I can tell you that it’s about a girl called Violet seeking to find the meaning of the last words of someone she really admired- Major Gilbert. I usually wait for all anime to air completely and then binge watch all episodes, but I couldn’t stop myself from watching Violet Evergarden’s first episode, because Netflix kept tempting me through all the teasers on the home page, and I must say, it was really a treat. So, I have been longing to watch it and all the hype had made me really fervent (as you can notice from the cover-page of this site). The hype around Violet Evergarden has been buzzing around the anime community for several months now.
